Our Story

Brachan is a small-scale, values-driven, independent Scottish cidery.

We are based between Glasgow and Clackmannanshire, working with orchards in Scotland, Herefordshire and Somerset. We always seek to create high-quality, naturally fermented cider that reflects the character of regional apple varieties, traditional orchard practices, and a deep respect for ecology, community, and craftsmanship.

We are Emma, Nikos and Nicky and we started making cider together in 2019. Our journey began with a shared passion for fermentation and a deep curiosity about traditional cider-making. As friends exploring fermentation techniques ,we were presented with an exciting opportunity to work with a heritage apple orchard in Herefordshire. What began as a hobby quickly evolved and led us to establish Glasgow Cider Company Ltd.

We returned to the Herefordshire orchard for the next harvest, and began working with another orchard in the same region and released our first cider – Brachan. As we began to establish our identity as Scottish fine cider producers, we were committed to sourcing and producing more locally. This led us to Solsgirth Farm in Clackmannanshire, where we formed a partnership with Jan Dixon to assist the farm in crafting their own cider.

We currently produce a few thousand litres a year of our own Brachan Cider using apples from Herefordshire and Somerset , along with Solsgirth Cider.
